Cabaret-style concert to benefit Grenada's victims of Hurricane Ivan

Singers from the St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, the Metropolitan Opera Chorus and other regional and  national opera companies will reunite on Sunday, November 14 at 7:00 PM in Brooklyn Heights to present "A Taste of Broadway."

The cast originally performed this cabaret-style program in Grenada this past June, the second of two concerts to benefit the island's General Hospital. The hospital was built at a cost of EC (Eastern Caribbean) $20 million (about US $8.6 million) and opened in January 2003. The 198-bed facility, like much of Grenada's infrastructure, was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in September. The first "Taste of Broadway" revue in May 2003 netted EC$48,000 (US $20,640), and this year's concert raised over EC $40,000 (US $17,200). Proceeds from the November 14 performance will go to the Hospital Fund Raising Committee that produced the Grenadian concerts to help rebuild the hospital and Grenada.
