Concert Calendar
The Vocal Area Network Concert Calendar focuses solely on vocal ensemble and choir performances around the New York area. We strive to make it as accurate as possible, but it's always a good idea to make a confirming phone call or web site visit.

Listings posted within the last week are indicated by New listing. Summer sings / open sings / choral read-throughs are indicated by dates in green. Notice, too, the sharing tools for each event.

To list your group's event here, use our new listing form. (If you prefer, just send us a note with complete, accurate information about your event.) There is no charge to be listed in the VAN Concert Calendar. To supplement your listing with a cost-effective VAN Ad banner ad, see our Advertising page.

Voices of Ascension (Chamber vocal ensemble with multimedia)
"Voices of The New: Voices of Mannahatta"
No consideration of the complexity of American culture could be complete without the perspective of the indigenous people who were America's sole inhabitants in 1491. Voices of Ascension commissioned composer Danielle Jagelski to write an extended ensemble narrative exploring the history and context of the piece of land on which the Church of the Ascension sits today in Manhattan, the island known by the Lenape as Mannahatta. In collaboration with musicians and multimedia artists, many of whom are members of North American tribal nations, the traditional and newly-composed works on this program will illuminate the map and territory where we interact every day in a new light.
Church of the Ascension, 36 Fifth Avenue (at Tenth Street)
Admission: $20-$55; student rates, senior rates, group rates available.
