The Russian Chamber Chorus of New YorkThe Russian Chamber Chorus of New York presents its Spring concert, entitled "Sacred and Earthly Love," on March 25 and 28 at 8 PM, under the direction of Artistic Director and Conductor Nikolai Kachanov. "Sacred and Earthly Love" is the third concert in the RCCNY's annual "Parallels and Crossings" series, which explores common thematic threads in music by composers of different time periods and nations.

This year, the RCCNY celebrates love, through interpretations of the biblical Song of Songs, from the Italian Renaissance and early German Baroque periods to a contemporary wedding song, followed by electrifying premieres of works exploring sacred and compassionate love by two contemporary Siberian composers, Yuri Ashepkov and Yuri Yuckechev.

The RCCNY is proud to present the American premiere of Yuri Ashepkov's Panorama, a work set to text of Buddhist scripture, the Dhammapada, sung in Pali. This piece features Sitar player Indrajit Roy-Chowdhury, adding traditional Indian raga.

In addition, the chorus is honored to perform the world premiere of Epistle, a new composition by Yuri Yuckechev for choir and cello. This piece features cellist Adrian Daurov. Yuri Yuckechev set his composition to text by the Russian artist and writer Nicholas Roerich, and has dedicated Epistle to the Russian Chamber Chorus of New York.

Tickets are available for purchase in advance through the RCCNY website at www.rccny.org/ConcertSchedule.html or may be purchased at the door during concert evenings.

Concert dates and location: Wednesday, March 25 at 8 PM, at St. Joseph's Church (371 Sixth Avenue between Waverly Place and Washington Place); and Saturday, March 28 at 8 PM, at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church (213 West 82nd Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway).
